  I just found all of the personal e-mail correspondence that Beverly and I shared while we worked together at NHRMC. They have reopened so many memories of our times together. I miss her dearly.

  Beverly and I were attached at the hip throughout our Jr high school years, one thing I will always remember was our 9th grade year, we were cheerleaders and were ask to teach cheers to the girls at tryouts that year. We did and everyday we gave it our all. The day of final cuts came and Beverly and I went to the board to see if we made the team, and to both our surprise we had been cut. We looked at each other and in disbelief started laughing, we could not believe that we had been on the team for 2 yrs prior and had taught all the cheers to the new girls and had been cut. After a few days Beverly convinced me that we should spend the rest of the year playing any and all sports that we could. Thats exactlly what we did!! She always made me laugh and we took the Athletics dept at Lake Forest by storm that year. She will be missed by all who knew her. Prayers extended to Gene , Judy ,David , Lisa and all her Family!

  From the moment Beverly Shelton came into my life, I knew that she was someone special. I had been working at Centura Bank for about 6 months when she walked in one day, looked around, and told one of the tellers that she’d be working there soon. She pointed to an empty office and said “I guess I’ll be right over there.” The next time we saw her, she was moving her things into that space on her first day of work. We learned that Beverly was coming to us from the Centura main office. She had dropped in one day and convinced them they should hire her. It’s not uncommon to bond with the people you work with; they become your friends at first, then they become your family. What’s rare is to leave a job and actually grow closer to a colleague. But that’s what happened with me and Beverly. I left Centura about two years after I started work there. Not only did we keep in touch, but Beverly became one of my closest friends of 20 years. I have never known anyone – and doubt that I ever will – with the confidence, strength, determination, and heart that Beverly had. She was never intimidated by anything or anyone. She always knew the right thing to say or do. Every time I was around her, I found myself wondering how that larger-than-life personality could possibly fit into such a petite person. One of the things I will always remember about Beverly is how thoughtful she was. Once she got to know you, she would always remember your birthday. Mine was easy for her as our birthdays were just days apart; we would often laugh about how we Scorpios through and through. We’re fiercely loyal and make lifelong friends, but it’s best not to make us mad. Beverly had a knack for gift giving. Whether it was for your birthday, some other special occasion, or just because she wanted to do something nice for you and didn’t need a reason, she would always find the most thoughtful present, something you knew that she had picked out just for you. My house is full of trinkets and treasures that always make me pause and smile as I remember our inside jokes and special memories. Beverly also knew that the most precious gift she could give anyone was her time, and she gave it unselfishly. Her greatest gift was being there for those she loved. We shared a common love for animals and often joked about being a team. She was the "Crazy Cat Lady" and I was the "Crazy Dog Lady.” We rarely crossed paths without sharing pictures of our four-legged children and filling each other in on their latest adventures. I will miss our birthday celebrations at the same Mexican restaurant where we’ve met up for the past 20 years. I will miss our phone calls that were often full of laughter, sometimes tears, and always hopeful for whatever the future had in store. I’ll miss the gift of her time. It was one of the most wonderful gifts that anyone has ever given to me.

  I AM SO SORRY ABOUT BEVERLY, WE WORKED IN BANKING TOGETHER IN THE 1980,S AND EARLY 1990,s. AT BARCLAYS BANK OF NC ON OLEANDER DR. SHE WAS ALWAYS SUCH A SWEET PERSON, GOOD TO WORK WITH, AND VERY THOUGHTFUL, WHEN I HAD MY SON IN 1991, SHE CAME TO THE HOSPITAL TO VISIT US,I HAVE A PICTURE OF HER HOLDING TYLER.
