Susan Gore McKoy was born on March 23, 1954 in Wilmington to James and Carolyn Gore and departed this life on May 16, 2021 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Candace Gore Brown.

She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years Johnnie McKoy Jr., her daughters Amanda “Mandy” Robinson (Scott) and Lindsey Chiu (Bryan), her grandchildren whom she treasured most, Matthew Robinson, Hanna Robinson and Wesley Chiu, her sister Sharon Leiner (Gray), brothers Roger Gore and Michael Gore, many special in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at a Visitation to be held from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm on Friday, May 21, 2021, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2237 Castle Hayne Road, Wilmington, NC 28401. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan’s memory to Bethany Presbyterian Church, St. Jude’s Research Foundation, SECU House – Chapel Hill, or The Jason Ray Transplant Clinic at UNC Hospitals.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Susan especially those at Wilmington Health, UNC Hospital and Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

    One more hug would be nice. I hope the good lord met you at the pearly gates and took you to see your mom. What a joyous reunion I bet it was. You were a great person even though you did not like Nancy Pelosi but more importantly left a loving family and legacy to carry on in your honor. Your suffering is over and the whole family will look after Johnny, Mandy, Lindsey, and your grandchildren. RIP, god speed and go rest high on that mountain.
