After graduation from Oxford High School, Adelll married Wilson Thomas Eakes. They lived and operated businesses in Durham, then later moved to Charlotte where her husband was in the real estate business. They were active members of Third Presbyterian Church near their home in Charlotte. Adell loved the activities of the church’s Circle One, regular games of bridge, gardening, reading mysteries, poetry and cooking. She was a lady who focused on making a wonderful home for her family of two sons and one daughter and pets.

A few years after her husband’s death, Adell lived a short time at Wilora Lake Village in Charlotte and then moved to be closer to family at Brunswick Cove Living Center near Wilmington. She greatly appreciated the faithfulness of friends and family who kept regular correspondence. On her 91st birthday this year she was still walking and enjoyed her annual birthday party.
