Memorial Gifts & Donations

Adrian Davis Capps, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, at his home in Surf City, NC. He was surrounded by his loving family, bringing comfort and peace to their hearts during his final moments. Adrian was born on June 19, 1940, in Sneads Ferry, NC, and lived a remarkable life filled with passion and purpose.

Throughout his 83 years, Adrian embraced every opportunity that came his way. After leaving the Navy, where he served with honor and received a good conduct medal, Adrian ventured into various career paths. He began his professional journey in retail as a display merchandiser, later becoming a business owner in the grocery industry. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he also thrived in the insurance sector. Adrian’s dedication and work ethic were evident in all aspects of his professional life.

Beyond his career achievements, Adrian had a true zest for life. Aviation held a special place in his heart, and he became an avid pilot, earning his private pilot license at a young age of just 19. He cherished the exhilarating feeling of taking flight and exploring the world from above. Adrian also found joy in quieter pastimes such as reading, waterskiing, boating, fishing, traveling, and meeting new people. His genuine curiosity and warm personality made him a wonderful companion, creating lasting friendships wherever he went.

Adrian’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 64 years, Linda Croom Capps, their daughter Kimberly D. Capps, and his cherished granddaughter, Brinkley Dinsmore. Adrian had a special connection with his sisters-in-law Priscilla Croom Crowe and Anne Croom Campbell, as well as his sister Gloria Capps Davis, who shared many precious memories with him. His love extended to his nephews Ronald Davis, Jason Davis, Stewart Campbell, Gil Thomas, and his niece Lisa Thomas Ray, who he loved dearly. Adrian’s love and presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide his family through the days ahead.

A memorial service to celebrate Adrian’s remarkable life will be held at a future date, allowing family and friends to come together and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare, an organization that provides compassionate care and support to those in need. Adrian Davis Capps lived a life of purpose and touched the lives of many. His unwavering spirit, adventurous nature, and loving heart will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
