Alice Joyce Harris-Bland, age 85 of Wilmington went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Joyce was born in Columbus County, NC on October 30, 1936 to the late Mack Duffie Edwards and Esther Mae Purvis Edwards.

Joyce was was truly loved by her family, many friends and customers. She was a Christian Lady and was most recently a member of Riley’s Creek Baptist Church in Rocky Point. Joyce was a Professional Hair Stylist for most of her adult life and had many friends and customers throughout the years. She had her own Beauty Shop for many years, “Hair Aware”.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Ernest Stephen “Steve” Bland, two sons, Alan Furlough and wife Frances, Stanley Furlough and wife Gwen; step sons, Brian and Eric Bland; granddaughters, Holly Furlough, Sheila Gentry; grandsons, Justin Cavenaugh and Conner Bland; great granddaughters, Haley Koch and Alyssa Griffin; and great great granddaughters, Rebekah and Chelsea Koch; two brothers, Wendell Edwards and wife Ellen, and Joe Edwards and wife Linda; one sister Dot Bays and husband David; and sister in-law Wanda Edwards.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Rhonda Joyce Furlough and a brother Durwood Edwards.

Visitation will start 11 am Friday, June 17, 2022 with services to begin at 12 noon at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel led by her brother in-law, Rev. David Bays. Burial will be in Seagate Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be Chris Bays, Jeffery Bays, Bradley Bays, Keith Edwards, Brian Bland and Eric Bland.
