Allene Vada Keiser (affectionately known as Franny), 95, of Leland, N.C., died peacefully at her home on April 25, 2021 with her family by her side.

Allene was born in Brisbane, Australia on August 1, 1925 to the late Mary Connelly and Allen Gilbert. She came to America following her marriage to Joe Edward Keiser, an American G.I., during World War II. Allene and Joe moved extensively throughout the United States due to Joe’s engineering career with Dupont, finally settling in Leland, N.C. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. As an avid traveler, she visited many countries all over the world, but her favorite trips were the ones she took with her grandchildren to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Allene is survived by her children, Kathleen Mary Keiser, Philip Joe Keiser, and Patricia Jane Keiser; grandchild, Kyle Russell and wife Mallory; great grandchildren Joel Taylor Benson, Violet Della Edwards, Tilly Brooke Russell, and Bexley Ann Russell.

In addition to her husband and parents, Allene was preceded in death by her two sisters Norma Leroy and Patricia Simms, her son David Harold Keiser, and grandson Stuart Edward Benson.

A private celebration of her life and the interment of ashes will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving caregivers Ramona Jones and Tammy Walker, along with all the nurses and caregivers at hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please donate to Allene’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
