Alta (Tina) LaVerne Godfrey Renfrow

Alta (Tina) LaVerne Godfrey Renfrow, age 79, passed away at New Hanover County Regional Medical Center on May 17, 2021.

Tina was born on February 23, 1942 in Palatka, Florida to the late Harry Everett and Ola Mae.

She lived in Selma, NC and married Marvin Renfrow. Tina was a graduate of Barton College and Campbell University, where she obtained a Masters in Business. She retired from the State Department of Insurance as an auditor. Tina was a devout Christian and a longtime active member at Branch Chapel Church in Selma. She was involved in many various activities in the church, including numerous Bible studies. She loved to travel and shop. After retirement, she took many cruises all over the world, some for a week or two, and others for a few months at a time. Tina was a wonderful cook, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas, when she would prepare a feast for more than 20 family members.

Tina is survived by her daughters, Kathy Walker, RN (Hank) of Wilmington, Sherry Watkins of Smithfield, Tracy Fitzgerald of Pine Level, son Ron Taylor of Wilson, brother Gilbert Godfrey (Ellen) of Jacksonville, FL, sister Opie Gunter of Interlachen, FL, grandchildren Kenny Watkins, great granddaughter Gracie, of Selma, Simon, Nate, and Andrew Fitzgerald of Pine Level, Melissa Van der Helm and Scott Taylor of Johnston County, John Cosgrove (Stacie), great granddaughters Jada and River, Erica Wilson (Brandon) and great granddaughters Bella and Kinsley, Michele Walker, Christie Webb (Leah), all from Wilmington, and her special poodle, Pippi.

In addition to her parents, Tina is predeceased by her husband Marvin Renfrow and several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive visitors at Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 7438 NC-96 N. Selma, NC. on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 12PM. A memorial service is to follow directly at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church 7438 NC-96 N, Selma, NC 27576.
