Alvan Terry, 75, of N. Hampton Road, Wilmington, NC. passed away December 25, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Terry was born in Greenport, NY, to the late Burton L. and Florence Hempstead Terry. He was a highway foreman with the SC Department of Public Works for over 29 years and proudly served for 50 years as a member of Southold FD Eagle Hook & Ladder Co. He also loved to travel, enjoyed bowling, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Terry; two sons, Kevin Terry of Southold, NY, and Mark Terry of Lewisville, NC; one daughter, Jacquelyn Bruckheimer of Hampton, VA; one sister, Marie Glover of Mattituck, NY; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at 11 AM, Saturday, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
