Memorial Gifts & Donations

Amanda Michele Henderson slipped away from this world peacefully on August 18th, 2018.

Amanda was also known as “Buttercup” (or “Cup” for short) by her mom and little sister, Shelley. The childhood nickname still fits her–she was and always will be our exquisite little buttercup. Amanda had an enthusiastic sense of humor that often resulted in contagious, uncontrollable laughter from her family and friends. She showed us all that a bad day could almost always have a funny side, and she taught us how to look for it. Amanda loved her music, and she would start her day listening and dancing to her favorite songs. She filled her days doing the many things she loved: cooking, enjoying a day at the beach, surfing, or just being amazed by her amazing daughter, Mia. She and her daughter shared the love of animals and nature. We are grateful for the wonderful memories and great stories of Amanda’s escapades she gifted to us. Those she left behind will always keep her spirit alive every time we remember the twinkle in her eyes, the songs on her lips, and her generous smile.

Our lovely Amanda is survived by her parents, Patricia Odham, Michael Henderson and Michael Polk; her sister, “Bean” Shelley Franklin; her beautiful daughter, Mia Henderson; her grandparents, David Odham and Patricia Ingram; as well as many aunts and, uncles, cousins, and a nephew.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date to be announced.

An informal gathering to remember Amanda will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 between 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Quaker Meeting House located at 5th and Chestnut Streets in downtown Wilmington, NC.

    John Sonnenfeld says:
Dear Henderson family... I am so very sorry for your loss of Amanda. Fortunately, death is only a temporary part of life. Jesus promised us a wonderful resurrection of the dead (John 5:28,29/1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14), so we have the hope of being reunited with our deceased loved ones. In the meantime, even though the pain of loss through death may sometimes seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure the coming months (Psalm 46:1). Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences…. John
