Andrew Stephen Hendrix, 34, passed away on Monday 15.May 2017 at his home in Wilmington, NC.

He was a graduate with a B.S. in Biology from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC and did environmental studies at UNC Wilmington. He had graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High in Rocky Mount, NC.

He expressed himself with art all his life – the photo shows him working on clay sculptures at Wilmington’s Fat Cat Pottery, his home away from home. He was a loyal member of the Carrabba’s Restaurant team and served as a volunteer for the ARC in Wilmington for several years.

He is survived by his parents, Robert A. Hendrix M.D. and Karen E. Bessey as well as sister, Erika K. Hendrix and brother, Allan Scott Hendrix.

A CELEBRATION of ANDY’S LIFE will be held at Carrabba’s Restaurant, 15 Van Campen Blvd, in Wilmington, at 1 PM on Friday, 19May 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the AUTISM SOCIETY of NORTH CAROLINA, the ARC of NORTH CAROLINA, and / or NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Health).

Andy was witty, talented, charming, and brilliant, and his footprint at RMHS and on the hearts of so many Gryphons will not fade with time.     Andy was a member of Amnesty International with me at UNCW. While I haven't kept in touch with him, I was struck by his kindness and his commitment to ensuring that everyone had their human rights respected, no matter what. He was a good man, and devoted to others. I am so sad to hear of this loss, and will be remembering his family and friends in my prayers.

    I didn't know Andy personally, but I was a fan of his youtube channel. Andy was a very sharp guy who had knowledge in many areas. He seemed very compassionate towards others and touched on many important topics. I always enjoyed listening to him and many times I learned something. Andy was a very talented person. I believe he had a lot to offer this world and it is our loss that he is gone. My condolences to Andy's friendsd and family. He will be remembered.
