Memorial Gifts & Donations

Anna Francinia “Frankie” Willoughby Laney Little, age 95 of Wilmington, NC, passed gently from her Earthly life on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at her home.

Frankie was born on March 8, 1926 in Edgecombe County, NC, the daughter of the late Robert Hinson and Lula Victoria Larson Willoughby.

Frankie was a devoted Christian that rarely missed church services on Sunday. She made it her business to see that her children were in church, also. As a mother, Frankie instilled the importance of having a loving relationship with God, getting an education, and working hard. She lost her husband, Stuart Laney, early on when they were just 46 years old, and she did not remarry until she was 83. Frankie sadly lost Doug Little after 4.5 years of marriage. Her family and friends will remember her as a very independent lady with an eye for beauty and a love for Christ. Frankie had a long and full life, which is being continued in Heaven. From her family, “Have a great time, Mom!”

Frankie is survived by her son Stuart Dalee Laney, Jr. (Melba), her daughters Delores Laney Hawes, and Gwen Laney Craven (Allen), her six grandchildren Stuart Laney, III., Anna Chin (Kenny), Donnie King, Jr. (Robin), Laney Pierce (Craig), Linnea McCaskill (Dennis), and Nickea Craven (Karen), her ten great-grandchildren Price, Lindsey and Mason King, Troy, Colby and Victoria McCaskill, Emmett and Eliza Pierce, and Alex and Joey Chin, and her sister-in-law Lois Laney Porter of Charleston, SC. Frankie is predeceased by both her aforementioned parents, her husbands Stuart Dalee Laney, Sr. and Charles Douglas Little, her sisters Alice Ray Ferrell, Ethel Dickens, Myrtle Radford, Jincy Seward, Ruth Shepard, Edna Pierce, and Sally Mosley, and her son-in-law Maurice Hawes.

There will be a graveside service held for Frankie on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11am at Oleander Memorial Gardens, with her burial to immediately follow.

One of my best memories of Aunt Frankie was when she came to visit us in Charleston, She saw our kitten and she jumped on top of the washing machine to get away from it!! We laughed so much about that
