Anna Jane Benton 73, a lifetime resident of Wilmington, NC died on Monday January 9, 2023 at her Devon Park home with her family at her side.

Anna was born in Wilmington on September 20, 1949, the daughter of the late Edward Nance and Anna Laura Padrick Martin. She retired from Wilmington Health after spending many years at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church but attended Herring’s Chapel in Burgaw where she played the Church Organ for many years. Not only was she a loving, wife but a loving mother, grandmother and friend to everyone.

She was survived by her husband of 28 years George Benton along with her children daughter’s, Barbara A. Pickett and husband Keith; Leslie Dunbar and Lori Shannon and husband Greg; son Andy Benton and wife Hope; brother Jim Nance and wife Karen; grandchildren Lauren Preston; Austin Benton; Megan Pickett; Charlee Aycock; Andie and Harley Shannon and one great-granddaughter Addisyn Preston.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday January 14, 2023 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

The family will see friends 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM Friday at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
