Our beloved Annette “Tiki” McNeil went home to be with Jesus and her adoring father Lawrence Rivers and beloved mother Edna Mae Gibson, as well as her loving brother James Emery Ballard.
“Tiki” was born August 5, 1957 and passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023.
Tiki graduated from Westside High School in 1976. After graduation she started her career as a Medical Secretary at Overlook Hospital in Summit New Jersey. Upon moving to Leland, NC she continue her career as a Telemetry Clerk at New Hanover Medical Center and Cape Fear Hospital. She decided to leave the medical field accepted a position as Customer Services Specialist at Waste management in Wilmington, NC. She continued her work in this industry and transitioned to an account support specialist for the City of Wilmington Solid Waste Department. She also worked at PSC Medical Supply in Bolivia, NC. In her later years she worked for Walmart, Murphy’s and finally Handee Hugo as a cashier.
She loved interacting with community and everyone in it.
“Tiki” leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Tamika Nicole Walker and husband Paul, Son Christopher Lawrence McNeil and wife Mirinda Henderson-McNeil, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters: Barbara Carter, Lena McNeil and Denise Lynn, husband Vincent, brother Walter McNeil and wife Demarn. She was a second mother to Greg Hamby, Steffon Willis and Joey Upchurch. She also leaves behind special friends: The Love Zone, Walmart, Handy Hugo Crews, Rose, Margeret, Beverly, Sandra, Alice, Kyree, Tiest, the Hunt-Henderson Family and the Bennett-Hamby Family. Plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and numerous others.
