Surviving are Husband Robert Earl Dempsey of Clermont FL, Tom Crumpton (Dorothy Crumpton) son, Marian Canady Daughter both of Wilmington NC, Carolyn Perry (Jeff Perry) daughter of Kennesaw Ga. Grandchildren, Jessica Canady, Jamie Crumpton, Madeline Crumpton of Wilmington NC. Ryley Perry, Ryan Perry of Kennesaw, Ga. Great Grandson, Nash Anderson of Wilmington NC. Cheryl Dempsey Stepdaughter, Chip Dempsey (April Dempsey) Stepson, Step-grandchildren Courtney Dempsey and Matthew Dempsey.

Annette loved to dance and taught throughout her life.
Upon moving to Wilmington, she Worked for the City of Wilmington teaching dance to children who lived in the 5 Wilmington Housing Authority Centers. She later began to teach special needs children and senior adults.

Annette was one of the cofounders of the Wilmington Civic Ballet Company and performed with the company at Thalian Hall. She also taught for the School of the Wilmington Civic Ballet until she became Director of the New Hanover County Department of Aging. Annette worked at the NHC Department of Aging for 25 years until her retirement in 2009, She was very proud of her work establishing the NC Senior Games in Wilmington and the NC Senior Games SilverArts program.
Annette continued to teach and dance with a tap group on Friday mornings. Over the years they competed in and won several dance competitions.

After retirement Annette taught yoga at the YMCA and GeriFit at the Senior Center. She began a chair yoga class that still continues today.

Annette loved her church, Pine Valley Methodist Church, and over the years was active in various programs. During her last years she enjoyed working with the Tech Team that did the live streaming for Sunday services.

Visitation and Memorial Service is planned for Wednesday June 5, 2024 starting at 10 am visitation and memorial service to begin at 11 am at Pine Valley United Methodist Church.

    Annette was our Director at the NHC Senior Resource Center. I worked for Annette for 9 years. Annette was a wonderful boss as well as a good friend. I loved her dearly.
