Archie Carey (AC) Watson of Wilmington, NC passed on May 27, 2021 at home surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Watson is a native of Wilmington having been born at James Walker hospital on February 20, 1944. He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Hatcher Watson and his son, Alan Troy Watson. He is survived by his daughters, Gail Watkins (Wayne, Jr), Sonya Spivey (Robbie) and Alicia (Lisa) Larsen.
AC also leaves behind his sister, Carlene McKeithan (Don) and his brothers, James (Jimmy) Watson (Judy) and Sonny Watson.
He was the best papa ever to Wayne (Hot Rod) Watkins, III, Ashley (Sugarbear) Manypenny (Brandon), Aaron Larsen and Connor Alan Spivey. He was the loving great grandpapa to his ninja monkey Addison Watkins and Waylon Watkins. There are many special nieces and nephews that will miss him. We all have great memories and stories to tell about our time with dad, brother, papa and Uncle.
Archie was a long time pipefitter in the construction field. He retired from Federal Paper Board.
Private First Class Archie Watson was a wounded survivor of the Vietnam War. Being an Army Veteran was one of his most proud accomplishments. So many gave all to that war. Archie took his second chance and when he returned home he gave his all to all those that he loved and cherished.
AC was an avid fisherman with many stories. One story was verified with a citation flounder that he bragged about. One of his favorite past times was sitting on the front porch of Canaday’s Yacht Basin, where he had his own personalized chair and his home. Mr. Watson was lovingly referred to as “The Mayor of Middle Sound”.
