Barbara Ann Solomon-Brooks, age 71, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at home in the warm embrace of her family.

Barbara was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 24, 1943, the daughter of the late Earl Hardy May and Tolie Leona Cooper May.

She served her country proudly as a Sargent in the United States Army and retired with honor and distinction after many years service.

Barbara is survived by her children Karen Adams, Felicia Solomon, Jerrell Solomon and Jason Solomon; grandchildren Rynell Solomon, Danyell Robinson, Doryll McKoy, Evelynn Green, India Adams, Asia Green and Keyuana Solomon and great grandchild Amias Ward. She is also survived by her sister Zahara Oshnchild, niece Celina Inman, nephew Miguel Ramos and grandnephew Miguel Ramos II and grandniece Alicia Ramos.

Together with her parents she was predeceased by her sister Gloria Herring.

A Service to Celebrate Barbara’s life will be held 11:00AM on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel, Liberty Hospice Chaplain Kelley Wheat-Rivers officiating. There will be a presentation of Military Honors in recognition of Barbara’s service to her country.
