Our Mom, Barbara Bishop Cameron Gore (Bobbie Bishop) passed away April 28th, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born February 21st, 1933. In Wilmington NC. Bobbie was the daughter of Lucien DeGraff Bishop and Lora Ella Brock Bishop. Bobbie was the last surviving sibling and the baby of 10! She was 90.
Bobbie retired from Eckerd’s Drug Store in 1992. She could not be idle so back to work she went. She worked for Elder Care and then as a private home care giver until she was 84. Mom was so passionate about her work and loved to care for others. Even in her later years she would help others before herself.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Gore who was her high school sweetheart. They reconnected after 43 years and married Sept 28th 1996. They had many fun filled years. Bobbie had 4 children, Sandra Andrews (husband Kenny) Barbara (Bea) Gibson (husband Keith) Wade Cameron (wife Angie) Eric Cameron (wife Kimberly) two Stepchildren Blaine Gore and Linda Milligan. Bobbie had 11 grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins she loved dearly.
We can’t forget her love during her last few years…she called him “Kitty”, a rescue cat that she fell in love with while shopping at Pet Smart. So, home with her he went!
To know mom was to love her. She had so many friends and family throughout her lifetime that she loved, and they loved her. Many of our friends called her mom or grandma!
Unfortunately, mom had a lot of sadness in her life as well, as she watched all her siblings and many of her dear friends pass away. She had faith in Jesus Christ, and I know she is resting high on that mountain with them all!
What a great life Mom had to live to be 90 and still love and be able to shop;) (her favorite pastime)
Bobbie was a long-time member at Seagate Baptist church and her service will be held at the church on Wednesday May 3rd at 12 noon. She wanted only happy thoughts and memories! Please feel free to share any stories you may have!
