Barbara Kirk Gardner passed on January 18th, 2019. She was born in Norwood, MA on August 16th, 1920. She is the daughter of Harry Kirk and Lila Hathaway Kirk. At a young age the family moved to Manchester, NH where she lived until she joined the US Navy in 1943. After serving for two years she married and became an Air Force wife. The family retired in Goldsboro, NC and remained there for over fifty years before she relocated to Wilmington, NC. She lived for the past five years at Brightmore/Kempton.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Gardner Hanlin (James) of Cary, NC and Virginia Gardner Brinson, of Wilmington, NC, two grandsons, Shawn Wiggins Moye, Tallahassee, FL, and Kirk James Hanlin¸ Holly Springs, NC, step grandson, Kyle Stanley Hanlin, and step great-grandson, Cash Dillon Hanlin of Wilmington, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Charles Gardner, son, Robert Kirk Gardner, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gardner.

Barbara was always up for travelling and adventure. She loved the out of doors and especially camping. In her later years her adventures included white water rafting, touring in a helicopter and riding in a hot air balloon. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist church in Goldsboro, NC for over forty years.

The family will have a private graveside burial at Willow Dale Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.
