Bart J. Myers, 54, of Leland, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Bart was born in Washington, DC on May 1, 1959 to Bennett and Geneva Myers.

Bart grew up on the Chesapeake Bay where he enjoyed many years of fishing, crabbing, and love of the outdoors with his family. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 26 for over 32 years. Bart was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Goins Myers, and daughter, Nancy Gee Myers.

Surviving are his wife of over 33 years, Penny Lyons Myers; daughter Dawn R. Poss and husband Jonathan along with grandchildren, Chloe, Austin and Chase, daughter Makayla Lyons all of Leland NC. Bart is also survived by his father Bennett F. Myers, and sisters Benita L Myers of Davidsonville, MD, Linda K. McKenna Cheyne and husband Clayton Cheyne, along with nephews Patrick McKenna and Samuel Cheyne, all of Edgewater, MD. And many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, his beloved canine partner, Lily survives.

A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.

Bart was a good man and I and proud to say he was my friend and Tool Buddy , he made me a better electrician and person by his example .

    I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3,4 states “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. Hope these words give you a new hope.
