Bernice Marilyn Hughes born Dec. 3, 1928 in Newark, NJ passed peacefully on April 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Karen Jacobson, daughter, Alison Campbell, granddaughter, Melisa Jacobson, granddaughter, Jack Campbell, great-grandson, Nicholaus Clay, great-grandson, all of Wilmington, NC, Cynthia(daughter) and Michael Miller, Danielle (granddaughter) and Max (grandson) of New York, NY and Carol (niece) and Mike Allen, of Pt. Pleasant, NJ, and many friends at Liberty Commons Nursing Center are left to cherish her memory.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur E. Hughes, her son, Robert C. Hughes, and her sister, Sandra Corallo.

A scattering of her ashes will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Carolina Beach Fishing Pier, 1800 Carolina Beach Ave at 7pm. All friends are welcome.

    From the time I was born, my grandma was always there for me. She and "Pop" helped me chart the course for my adult life. I'm thankful for all the time I was given to spend with her. She will forever be with me but I will miss her immeasurably. I love you Grandma, always. To my family, we've suffered her loss, but we will be touched by her forever, not only through memories but surely by repeating her famous sayings . Much love to you all.
