Betty L. Griggs, 76 of Wilmington went to be with her Lord Thursday, May 10, 2012 following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Delano, CA on September 21, 1935 to the late John and Bertha Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by a son Barry Brooks in 2002.

Betty lived in Wilmington since 1971. She was a member of The Sanctuary Church in Wilmington and worked at WalMart for 17 years.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Griggs; one daughter, Jeri Owens; one son, Larry Brooks and wife Charlene; grandson, Brandon Owens and wife Becca; and one sister Bonnie Robertson.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday, May 19, 2012 at The Sanctuary Church, 1111 The Cape Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28405.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
