Billy Ray Hall, Sr., age 65, born June 20, 1944, passed away Wednesday August 5, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Billy was preceded in death by his father William Charles Hall, his mother Lillian Edell Benton Hall, sister Bonnie Hall and an infant daughter Rhonda Lynn Hall.

He is survived by his special friend Mary Pigott, a nephew raised as a son Elwood Dean Hall (Sherry) of Burgaw, daughters Wanda Hall Fowler (Tommy) of Winnabow, Sherry Ann Hall (Maggitty Ann) of Wilmington, sons Billy Ray Hall, Jr. (Karen) and Michael Eugene Hall (Lisa) of Wilmington, eight grandchildren Trent Hall (raised as a son), Shane Hall, Brandon Hall, Cobie Fowler, Hunter Fowler, Jason Hall, Katie Hall, Michael Hall, brother Charlie Hall (Pam) of Scotts Hill, sister Sophia Meckley (Ron) of Rocky Point and several nieces and nephews.

After serving time in the Navy, Billy worked construction until he retired in 2001. Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending many hours in the woods.

Billy attended Federal Point Pentecostal Church in Wilmington where a funeral service will be 6:00 PM, Saturday, August 8, 2009. Reverand Leroy Evans will conduct the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until service time. After the service the family will be at the home of his daughter Sherry Hall 5700 Carolina Beach Road.

Billy was known by many and had more friends than you could imagine. He was loved by all and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
