Billy W. Hardwick 60, of Wilmington died Thursday March 18, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Billy was born in New Hanover County October 24, 1949 the son on the late Willie E. and Macy Lewis Hardwick. He was also preceded in death by brothers Lewis and Danny Hardwick. He
loved being at the beach and was avid NC State fan.

Surviving are his beloved son and best friend Scott, brothers Charles T.(Becky) Larry (Arlene), Doug (Charlotte), and Johnny (Marsha) Hardwick, sisters Onita Del Conte and Linda O’Quinn (Billy).

Graveside Funeral Service 11:00 A.M Monday March 22, 2010 Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will see friends 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service.

    Dear family of Billy Hardwick, I remember meeting you all when your mother,Macy Hardwick was in the hospital.I was her nurse at the time.Linda reminded me that was 17 yrs.ago.What comes to mind is the love that you shared with one another and your Mom.Billy had a wonderful warm smile and a kind spirit.He adored his son Scott and his face lit up just by the mention of his name.He will be missed by everyone.Go rest high on that mountain Billy until we meet again one day in Heaven.God Bless You all!

    I'm not very good at knowing what to say at times like these. I remember Billy from high school. we hung out from time to time. I always concidered him a good friend . i am sorry to hear of his passing,but we will see him in heaven when god calls us.God bless his family and i know the lord will be with us all in our time of greef.

    Johnny & Family, I was deeply shocked to hear of Billy's death, it came as quite a shock to me. I always thought alot of Billy and as you know, we all shared many good times in our earlier years;either playing ball or let's just say "boys being boys", we really did some crazy stuff but we had so much fun doing it. Billy always had that heart-felt hand shake and smile that let me know I was with my friend, always. I'm going to miss him, but we'll all be together again one day.     I am so sorry to hear about Billy. My heart goes out to his family. I first saw Billy when I was about 13 or 14. My best friend and I went to Johnnie Mercer's at Wrightsville Beach almost every day in the summer. Billy was always there, with his great tan and blond hair. I think all the girls had a crush on him, including me. Later, whenever I saw him, he was always with his brother Johnny. I recently became friends with Billy on Facebook and was looking forward to talking to him again. He will be missed by many people.

We remember his helping you carry that heavy furniture we bought, down stairs and a steep hill, to load it for us...we never knew he was so strong until that day.
