Bonnie Lynn Quattlebaum

Bonnie Lynn (Mercer) Quattlebaum left this earthly world on Friday June 23, 2023 at Novant Hospital in Wilmington, NC, after a short but courageous fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, who will miss her dearly.

Bonnie was born July 27, 1951, at Fort Meade Hospital and grew up in Laurel, Maryland. She attended Atholton High School (1969). She lived in Howard County for much of her early adult life and moved with her husband to Carolina Beach, North Carolina in 1999. where she lived until the time of her death. Bonnie was the second generation of her family to have a career in the Fireplace Industry, beginning with Thulman Eastern, which culminated in owning her own company with Karl, Today’s Fireplace. She became manager of Beau Rivage Golf and Resort, where she made many good friends. Bonnie cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. She was a strong, generous, loyal and courageous woman. She touched many lives with her kindness and spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her loving parents Denny and Shirley (Hefner) Mercer.

Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Karl, of 40 years; her beloved son, Jeff, and his wife, Lisa; and the grandchildren she adored, Dylan and Autumn Smith. She was cherished by her sister, Denise Kramer, and her husband, Wayne, and their children; Katie Baker her husband, Justin, and their son Jake; Betsy Dorsey, her husband, Derrick, and their daughter Jordyn. Both Katie and Betsy referred to her as the fun aunt. She had a special bond with her cousin Jim Foster, and a close relationship with her stepmother Rita Mercer. She is also survived by her three beloved poodles, Cooper, Spencer, and Holly.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday July 23, 2023  at Beau Rivage Golf and Resort located at 649 Rivage Promenade in Wilmington, NC.
