Brenda Annette Rouse Leonard, age 68 of Castle Hayne, NC died Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCareCenter.

Brenda was born in Kinston, NC on June 26, 1952.

Brenda helped her husband with the family business B & L Custom Shop, she enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, especially the mountains and visiting Cherokee.

She is survived by her husband Harold Eugene “Gene” Leonard, Jr., daughter Sherry Leonard Benton and husband David of Castle Hayne; two grandchildren, Haley Leonard and Harold Leonard, IV;
three sisters, Betty Saunders and husband Jerry of Castle Hayne, Marie Rhodes and husband Roy of Hampstead, and Teresa Rouse of Wilmington; one brother John Rouse and wife Melinda; her sisters in-law, Marilyn Grice and husband Herbie, and Rose Watkins and husband David; many nieces and nephews; and her special dog, “Rascal”. She was preceded in death by her parents John William Rouse and Helen Elizabeth Smith Rouse; her son, Buddy Leonard; two brothers, Gene Rouse and William Alan Rouse, and three sisters, Faye Landi, Nina Barnhill, and Wanda Costin; and sister in-law Carolyn Caton.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Park led by Rev. David Porter. Her pallbearers will be Jerry, Keith, Freddy, Ray, DJ and Ryan.
