Brenda Suzanne Midgett Shepard 65, of the Middle Sound Community of Wilmington departed this world for a better one on Tuesday July 3, 2012.

Brenda was born in Wallace the daughter of the late Kirby and Gertrude Mobley Midgett.
She with her kind spirit and loving ways was a mother to everyone.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years Richard Edgar Shepard, daughter Lois Marie Smith and husband Dean of Rocky Point, son Richard Edgar Shepard, Jr. and wife Rose of Hampstead, her grandson who was her ray of light Zackary Ryan Shepard.

Some of Brenda’s favorite times were having cookouts for family and friends.

Brenda was blessed to have 19 siblings, 12 that are still living. Her nieces held a special place in her heart. They supported Brenda and her family so much during her time of need. Thank you so much for your love and contribution by strengthening the family when it was needed.

The family would like to thank the NHRMC 10th floor and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the gentleness towards our mother.

The family will see friends and hold a memorial on Saturday July 7, 2012 at the Middle Sound Advent Christian Church from 12 noon until 2 PM. Pastor Wilber Horrell will officiate the service.

    We will never forget the wonderful family reunion we shared at your house 2 years ago. I am so glad we were able to get to N.C. to see you and the family. We looked forward to many more visits. I always enjoyed talking to you on the phone, since we lived so far apart. I only wish we could have shared more time together.     I am very grateful that I was able to come out and spend time with Aunt Brenda and the rest of the family two years ago. I still remember her as such a beautiful, fun and kind person from when I was a child. My deepest sympathy to Ricky and the rest of the family.

    Brenda was great person along with her family Ricky Eddie and Loise. Brenda treated you like you were one of her own children. She Always welcomed You into her home, to talk and eat her great food. Brenda was one of kind. She will be greatly missed.
