Mr. Brian Joseph Coyle, age 68, of Wilmington, NC, was born on October 21, 2021, to the late Hugh and Margaret Coyle, and passed away on September 11, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Brian grew up in Rockville, MD and lived most of his life in the Rockville – Gaithersburg areas of Maryland, near Washington, DC. He graduated from Rockville High School and Montgomery Junior College. He spent his entire professional career working for Photo Science Company in the fields of aerial photography and mapping. He moved to Wilmington, NC in 2017.

Brian was an avid sports fan. In his early years, he played baseball and basketball. Later, he played and coached softball in the very competitive adult leagues in the Rockville area. He was a fanatic supporter of Washington professional sports teams – the Nationals, Capitals and especially, the Washington Redskins. He attended as many of their games as he could and amassed a large collection of memorabilia from those teams. He also loved classic rock and roll music and was a collector of vinyl records. He loved the beach and being active outdoors.
He was a life-long member of the Loyal Order of Moose and participated in Lodge activities in Maryland and Wilmington. He was also a 30-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Brian is survived by three brothers – Hugh, Jr., Barry and Charles – and two nephews and a niece.

We were looking forward to seeing Brian at our 50th class reunion. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

oh, no! no, no, no, no, no! brian & i were classmates at rockville h.s. (class of '71). in sports, i was quarterback, shooting guard, and pitcher, and brian attended and cheered loudly at all our games. we went different directions after that; but, I was delighted when we reconnected a few years ago on FB. we shared political affinities; i liked/loved his astute, witty commentaries. i am terribly saddened by the news of his death and will miss him greatly. rest in peace, my dear friend. rest in precious peace.

I knew Brian since high school and beyond. I had no idea he had passed. Unfortunately the news did not make it up here. I'm so sorry - Brian always had a smile on his face and something funny to say! I'll miss him!
