Bruce  was born to Carrol and Gertrude Cash of Raymond, Maine in Greenville, South Carolina on May 17, 1953.  He passed away at the age of 70 following a long battle with prostate cancer, at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina on March 7, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Bruce lived a life defined by hard work and his family.  He was the model of what it means to be a husband, a father, a brother, a son, a grandfather, and a friend.  He was well known for his gentle smile and genuine character.  He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bruce started his career with the United States Coast Guard in 1973 in Cape Cod, MA, as an Aviation Mechanic Specialist.  While stationed in Cape Cod Bruce met the love of his life, Dale whom he married on April 10, 1976.  Bruce retired from the USCG as an E9 with over 26 years of service.  During those 26 years he grew his family with four children, whom he raised to be respectful, hard-working, and loving adults.

Bruce loved the water and being on it.  One of his greatest personal achievements was obtaining his Captain’s license.  He loved bringing out with his family and friends to spend time on the water fishing and making lifetime memories to be forever cherished.

Bruce is pre-deceased by his parents, brother Denis Cash, uncle and aunt Edward and Amy French, aunts Sarah, Elsie and Harriet, and father-in-law Arnold Breda.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Dale Cash of Wilmington, NC, sister-in-law Priscilla Cash of Liberty, Maine; sister and brother-in-law Colleen and Ed Wynn of Montville, Maine; son Matthew and wife Elizabeth Cash of Raleigh, NC; daughter Sarah and husband Jason Value of Hertford, NC; son Michael Cash of Plymouth, MA; daughter Rebecca and husband Matt Cantrell of Catawba, VA; 7 grandchildren Chaise Cantrell, Jake Cantrell, Claire Cash, Everett Cash, Gridley Cash, Jackie Jean Cantrell, and Arabella Cash; Multiple grand-dogs; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

I’ve had the honor of knowing and working with Bruce and always respected and admired his mellow character. The world is a lesser place with his absence, but heaven has gained what we have lost.
