Memorial Gifts & Donations

Burton Wesley Clark II, age 82, passed peacefully with family by his side on Feb 20, 2023 after a brief and sudden illness.

He was born May 10, 1940 in Lewisboro, NY to the late Burton Wesley and Florence Clark (Stiles).

Burt served as a Draftsman in the 3rd Infantry Division of the US Armed Forces from 1963 to 1966. He was recognized with the Army Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his professionalism, skill, and the positive attitude and spirit of cooperation with which he tackled his assignments. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as an Outside Plant Engineer for Southern New England Telephone until he retired in 1991.

Burt lived most of his life in southwestern CT before moving to the Wilmington NC area in 2007. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. At his core, Burt was a man with perfect penmanship, a knack for writing the most heartfelt cards that could reduce you to tears in a moment, and a deep baritone voice that he would use to sing his loved ones “Happy Birthday” in a way that cut through so unexpectedly.

Burt is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Clark of Leland NC, adored sister Joan Brown of Yorktown Heights, NY, and seven children that he loved fiercely, Teal McCann and husband Brian of New Fairfield, Burton W Clark III (“Chip”) and his wife Kelly of Tolland, Chris Clark of Brookfield, Shaun Clark and wife Brook of Newtown, Shannon Ritchie and husband Brad also of Newtown and his adopted stepsons Michael Clark and wife Melissa of Bethel & Edward Clark of New Haven. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren Chelsey, Alex, Bailey and Dylan McCann, Haley & Kendall Clark, Shayna & Brynn Clark, Kyle & Connor Ritchie, and Cheyenne & Joshua Clark.

He is predeceased by his parents and siblings Lillian Whittlesey and Vicki Sanford.

Burt will be deeply missed and his memory will live on through all who were fortunate to know him.

Services will be held on Saturday Feb 25th at 1pm at the Bridge Presbyterian Church in Leland, NC. A celebration of life will follow in CT this June.
