Calvin Wayne Barnes, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was born on November 5, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Calvin was 65 years old at the time of his passing.

Calvin led a fulfilling life centered around his family and his passions. He found great joy in playing his guitar and listening to music, with a particular fondness for the timeless melodies of the Beatles. In his leisure time, he could often be found engaging in friendly competition while playing pool, a game he truly relished. Above all, Calvin cherished spending quality time with his loved ones, creating lasting memories that will forever be treasured.

He is survived by his mother, Margie Barnes Edwards, who lovingly supported him throughout his life. Calvin leaves behind his devoted wife, Dee Barnes, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they raised two wonderful children: son, Calvin Barnes Jr. and Kristy Williams, and daughter, Penny and Greg Philligin. Calvin was also a proud sister and brother; Cindy Barnes and Kenneth Barnes and wife, Donna. Additionally, he was blessed with three grandchildren, Calvin Barnes III, Aubrey Barnes and Ava Williams, who brought immeasurable joy into his life.

Services to honor and celebrate Calvin’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Calvin are invited to join in this gathering of remembrance and celebration.

Calvin Wayne Barnes will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love will forever be remembered. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.
