Camilla Snipes Weber, age 61, of Wilmington died on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Autumn Care Center in Wilmington following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Weber was born in Dunn, the daughter of the late James and Camilla Snipes.

She graduated from Dunn High School in 1968 and earned a B.S. degree in education from East Carolina University in 1972.
She lovingly taught special education students for many years while living in Wrightsville Beach, Greensboro, northern Virginia, Charleston, S.C., Columbia, S.C., Charlotte and Wilmington.
In recent years, she tutored students in Wilmington.
She was a member of several churches through the years. She loved singing and recently was actively involved at St. Jude’s Metropolitan Community Church in Wilmington.

Surviving are her two sons, Robert H. Weber III of Miami and James Bissette Weber of Wilmington; two brothers, James W. Snipes Jr. of Pickerington, Ohio, and David Snipes of Loris, S.C.; aunts Carol Nielsen of Smithfield and Jackie Bissette of Wilson; special friend Lydia Samelson of Wilmington; former husband Robert H. Weber Jr. of Wilmington; sister-in-law Priscilla Weber of Dunn; beloved cousins Betty Brunson of Durham, Margaret Lamoree of Richmond, Va., Nancy Godwin of Greensboro, Dal Snipes of Dunn, Ken Snipes of Greensboro, Deborah Tucker of Charlotte, Linda Ridout of Smithfield, Mack Bissette of Jacksonville, Fla., and Johnson Bissette of Wilson; nephews Joel and Patrick Snipes and niece Amy Crook.

A memorial service will be held at St. Jude’s MCC at the corner of Market & 26th streets in Wilmington at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
