Carlton L. Davenport, 69, of Leland, NC, formerly of Chesterfield County, Virginia, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Carl retired in August of 1980 after serving 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, which included three tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Corps, he owned Davenport Motors in Richmond, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Deborah A. Davenport, three children, Jada D. Goodrich, Jodie D. Rank, and Jason C. Davenport, along with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Didier and Lexine Hook and one brother, Linwood Davenport.
Friends and family are asked to gather at the Magnolia Greens Golf Course Club Room located at 1800 Linkwood Circle, in the Magnolia Greens subdivision, on Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, for a “Remembrance of Carl,” followed by a “Celebration of his Life” from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
