Memorial Gifts & Donations

Carol Jean Pajak, 80, passed away on May 2, 2022 after a long illness. Carol was born June 18, 1941 in Altoona, PA and is predeceased by her parents, Leon and Thelma McCracken, daughter Alicia Carol Pajak, her husband, Charles Pajak, and her siblings Leona Winsett and David McCracken.

Carol lived in New Jersey most of her life but made life-long friends wherever she went. She graduated from New Brunswick High School, New Brunswick, NJ in 1959. She had a wonderful career with Monmouth Paper Company until she retired.

Settling in Buchanan, VA turned out to be the best and most important move of Carol’s life. She was an active member of Buchanan Presbyterian Church, making wonderful friends that proved to be more like extended family. With any spare moment that she had, she always made time to help people and animals alike. She cared for friends who were ailing and worked with the Food Bank distributing dog and cat food to ensure that local friends could always provide for their pets. The impact that she made on so many lives will never be forgotten.

In her final years Carol, relocated to Wilmington, NC although her heart remained in Buchanan, VA. Carol leaves behind her Sister, Ann DiFrancesco (Bob) of Wilmington, NC, brothers Richard McCracken (Lori) of Millsboro, DE and John McCracken (Debbie) of Red Bank, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved dog, Phoebe, who she often referred to as “My Love Button “and would drop everything to tend to her.

Carol had the kindest, most loving heart, but was equally quick to tell exactly what she thought. Before the internet, if anyone ever had a question regarding a celebrity, movie or a TV show, you called Carol. Without hesitation, she always had the answer. For the many that told Carol that they loved her, she would always say, “I love you more” and there is no doubt she did.

Carol will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a future date in Buchanan, VA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Buchanan Presbyterian Church, PO Box 517, Buchanan, VA 24066.

Mitchell and I found Carol to be a most delightful and loving friend. I could always count on her as a smiling, loving face in our congregation. I always think of her when I hear or play “Mary, Did You Know” as that was one of her favorite songs. We truly missed her when she moved. Love and prayers go out to all of you, her precious family.
