Mrs. Carolyn Kay Edens, 88, of Wilmington passed away on Sunday January 29, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear Life Center. She was born in Suffolk, VA on November 18, 1934; daughter of the late Carroll E. Garrenton and Grace Adams Garrenton. She was a graduate of Churchland high school in Churchland Va..  Carolyn was a longtime and faithful member of Temple Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joyous Disciples Sunday School Class. She served on many committees and was the Head of the W.M.U. for 60 years. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues in Wilmington serving as secretary and treasurer.
She is survived by children Jeff Edens, Dana Edens, and Forrest Edens and wife Becky. Siblings, Sister, Lucille Brinson (Al), Brother, Alan Garrenton (Nancy) and sister, Valerie Langly (Dave) and sister-in-law Faye Edens
She was also preceded in death other than her parents, her husband, Carrol Samuel Edens in 2018.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday February 3, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church 18th and Market Street officiated by Dr. Mark Gaskins. The family will see friends starting at 10 am. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Temple Baptist Church or charity of  choice.

A special thanks to all of the healthcare team at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the care given to Mrs. Edens and his family

    As a fellow member of Temple Baptist Church, I have known the Edens' family for many, many years. Carolyn was one of the pillars of the church and her community. She will be missed terribly. My prayers go out to Dana and the boys.
