Carolyn Lowery Fowler

Carolyn Lowery Fowler, 74, went to her Heavenly Home April 5, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC after a four year long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Carolyn was born on September 11, 1945 in Wilmington, NC to George and Thelma Lowery.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Wayne Lowery and her grandson Mathis Wilson.

She is survived by her daughters Robin Taylor (Briley), Toni Isbell (Danny), Jami Wilson and their father Jimmy Fowler. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Heady (Jason), Alex and Kristin Isbell, Brennan and Jaylin Wilson, and her great-grandchildren Tori and Samantha Heady.

Also surviving are her siblings Marilyn Hubbard (Bobby), Susan Bowling (Gary), Steve Lowery (Brenda), her best friend Janice Register and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Carolyn will be remembered by loved ones and friends as “Grum”. She retired from the ABC Board after a thirty-two-year career. As a true Wilmingtonian, she loved the beach and enjoyed surf fishing. She called bingo for many years and loved playing it later in life. Grum was a sports fanatic, always cheering on her loved ones from the sidelines. She felt great pride when watching her granddaughters dance.

Grum would want us to remember that it is always a good day to be a Tar Heel. She loved her family.

A Graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at her final resting place, Oleander Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will be planned at a later time.
