Bo Jamison, 72, of Raleigh and Carolina Beach, NC passed away November 7, 2020 from injuries sustained in a boating accident.

Bo was born on August 1, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ the son of Dallas Boyd and Mary Irene Jamison. Being the son of a Navy Veteran he spent his childhood growing up throughout the Southeast but he
considered NC to be his home.

He is survived by sisters Dina (Bob), Barbara (Steve) and Betsy, and preceded in death by sister Carolyn. He was “Charlie” to them and though they lived far apart he deeply loved each of them and their families.

He served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam for 18 months, and only in the past few years realized the sacrifice it was.

It was in Marion, NC where he met the love of his life, Mary Evelyn Lawing. They were married June 23, 1972 and celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year. Mary meant the world to him; everything he did in life was to make her happy, and that he did. He leaves a legacy of love with his three children and grandchildren; they are what made him proudest in life. He treasured each of his children and embraced every moment with them – His son, Stephen, wife Ashley, and daughters Whitney, husband Bryan and Lindsay, husband Kyle. There was nothing that made him happier than spending time with his family, and his legacy will live on through the values he instilled in them. Bo had two granddaughters that lovingly referred to him as, “Pa”, Ella Kate and Grace as well as two step-grandchildren Bryce and Estella and two more grandchildren on the way that will learn all about him from his family. He was the proud Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and a godfather to Jonah and Grace who knew him as Mr. Bo. He loved to aggravate the little ones and they loved it as well, always telling them “See you Saturday” instead of goodbye. He loved being a son in law to Betty and the late Guy and brother-in-law to Irma, Norma, Glenn, Allan and the late Nancy. He formed a special relationship with each of them and loved them as though they were his own family.

Bo and Mary moved to Forest City, then High Point NC, where he built the High Point Regional Hospital, then settled in Raleigh NC. For over 40 years Bo worked in the construction industry as a superintendent with many large companies including McDevitt & Street, TA Loving, Pizzagalli, Shelco and finished his career with Choate Construction. There are many buildings throughout NC that bear his mark and serve as a monument to his strong work ethic.

Bo said many times he had lived a good life and enjoyed retirement and living out he and Mary's dream to be at the beach, where he loved fishing, and hosting friends and family. He loved playing with and spoiling his new golden retriever, Calli. Bo was loved by many, having never met a stranger and his beautiful smile and twinkling eyes brought joy to all that knew him. He will always be remembered for his witty humor at unlikely moments. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, employee, and a man of honor and integrity. He will be forever missed and will always be remembered and celebrated by his family. The world lost one of the good ones and what a profound loss it is.

Family and friends will gather from 5:30 pm till 9:00 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at The Merrimon-Wynne House, 500 N Blount Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.
