Charles E. Shipes 68, of Wilmington, NC passed away Saturday June 30, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Durham, NC.

Charles was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his friend of 43 years Taylor Tatum, Jr. of Wilmington, NC brothers George Shipes of Daytona Beach, FL, Randy Shipes of Lake City, FL, sister Janie Miller of Jacksonville, FL, also a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are The Taylor Tatum, Sr. family Jayne, of Myrtle Beach SC, Lucille, Lloyd, Robert and Charlie of Elizabethtown , NC was his adopted family.
