Charles Francis “Charlie” Shovlin, age 70 of Carolina Beach, NC passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Universal Healthcare of Brunswick in Bolivia, NC of Lewy Body dementia.

Charlie was born in White Haven, Pa on February 13, 1948 of Charles Francis Shovlin and Catherine Lavelle Shovlin. He worked 31 years for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s White Haven Center in multiple warehouse roles. His last duties included running the maintenance storeroom and managing large truck deliveries. Prior to that, he worked in Dietary receiving, Fixed Assets and the main warehouse.

Charlie grew up in the Pocono Mountains and loved hiking in the woods and camping. He enjoyed power boating both at Lake Wallenpaupack in northeastern Pa and later on his 30’ Carver Command Bridge on the Chesapeake. He is a past member of the North East River Yacht Club.

Charlie is survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Susan Goldman Shovlin, long-time friend and cousin Maureen and God-Son William J. Feissner of White Haven, Pa and numerous wonderful Lavelle cousins in Liberty, NY and around the country.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:30 am Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Carolina Beach. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. Around 2:30 the family will be taking Charlie to his final resting place in the ocean.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Universal Healthcare for the loving care they provided Charlie over the last 22 months.
