Charles Linwood Whitehurst, 51, passed away in his sleep Wednesday, January 31st, at his home in Wilmington, NC.

Charles was born September 20, 1966 to William Lawrence Whitehurst and Carolyn Long Whitehurst in Bethel, NC

He is survived by his mother Carolyn Long Whitehurst, his wife Vera Whitehurst, his brother William Whitehurst II, his sons Steven Whitehurst (wife, Jennifer Ahouse Whitehurst) and Charles J Whitehurst, step-children Carrie Mills and Timothy Mills and four grandchildren, Madison, Savannah, Elijah & Cameron along with countless other family members, friends and coworkers who loved him dearly.

Charles worked in Information Technology for Corning, Inc, New Hanover County DSS and NHRMC. He was known as “the gadget guy” and for his quirky sense of humor. Everyone could count on him to fix their computer problem and leave them with a good laugh.

One of his greatest joys in his life was spending time with his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

A committal service will take place at 11:30 am on Friday, February 9, 2018, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Oleander Memorial Gardens 306 Bradley Dr, Wilmington, NC 28409.
