Charles Monroe “Joe” Carter of Wilmington passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Joe was born in Wilmington, NC on September 7, 1943 the eldest son of Charles Stanace Carter and Ida Pearl Evans Carter who preceded him in death.

Joe was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Joe was a 32nd Degree, Master Mason and member of St. John’s Lodge #1 A.F. & A.M., Wilmington Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies, Sudan Shriners in New Bern, NC, Sudan Shrine Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Arab Shrine Club.

Joe is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two sons, Stanace and wife Pamela, and Michael and wife Karen; two grandchildren Carly and Owen; one daughter, Lynn; one brother, Ralph and wife Teresa; two sisters, Donna Carter and Janet Hooks and husband Ken; seven nephews, Billy, Shain, Greg, Pete, Evan, Crandale, and Baysden; and his special English Bull Dog “Ali Bea”.

A memorial Celebration of Life ceremony will begin at 5 pm Monday, February 9, 2015 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel followed by a time of visitation for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Joe’s name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
