Charles Peyton Berg, age 36, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021, with his family by his side.

He was born in Wilmington on July 22, 1985, the son of Charles Jeffrey Berg and Lindsay Mebane Edwards.

Peyton worked as a Manager for Harris Teeter for 15 years.

Together with his parents Peyton is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Mebane Berg and Suzanna Peyton Berg; his nephew, Benjamin Blue Wahlund; uncle, Cummins Aiken Mebane III; aunts Katherine DuBose Mebane and Katharine Jean Berg.

Peyton enjoyed being outdoors, cooking out with his friends, spending some time at the shooting range, fishing and relaxing with some video gaming. He was an ardent fan of the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Tar Heels. Above all the things he enjoyed most was spending time with his nephew, Benjamin, whom he loved dearly. Peyton was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service and Interment will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 20, 2021, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1219 Forest Hills Dr, Wilmington, NC 28403. Following the Service family and friends will gather to Celebrate Peyton’s Life at 2:00 pm at the Carolina Yacht Club, 401 Lumina Ave S, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480, where Panther and Tar Heel attire is welcome.
