Remembering Bob

Charles Robert Garrett, “Bob” born May 25, 1976, left us way too soon on March 6, 2022.

Bob was preceded in passing by his mother, Barbara Ann Garrett.  He is survived by his father, Charles Douglas Garrett, his sister Nancy Rivenbark (Lancey) all of Castle Hayne, NC,  his sister Julia Williams (Steve) of Woodruff, SC and his fiance Craven Howard of Carolina Beach, NC.  Aunts and uncles, nephews, great-nieces an abundance of cousins, and far too many friends to name, and with his big heart he loved them all.

Bob worked for numerous landscaping companies for years acquiring many skills along the way.  For a while Bob and his father Charles owned a landscape company, Garrett Lawns and More.

Bob had many talents and interests.  He was very good on a skate Board.  He also played the guitar.  He had taken up golf recently.  Mostly he loved the beach, that was where his mind found rest and he loved to surf.  He loved sunrises and sunsets and took some really beautiful pictures of them.  He never missed the opportunity to tell someone he loved them.

The family has asked that instead of flowers a donation to The Alzheimer’s Association in Bob’s name would  be greatly appriciated.

Met this guy in 2nd- 3rd gradeishhh??? Turned out to be one of the two very first friends I ever made starting out in Tanglewood early 80’s and in my life. Sadly lost both friends within a week. I remember Bobbys laugh, his interest in bmx, skateboarding, and movies on beta. One summer we watched Red Dawn soooo damn many times , I to this day can still recite every word from that film….... Great movie but who could ask for a greater friend at that age? Bob always had a kind, calm manner and he even loved cats for some reason? I’ll never forget Mr Chucks taking us to see Iron Eagle 1& Back To The Future1. He came from a great family and I know we will all be invited by Bob to see a better movie one day, hopefully not on the BETA………………… Thomas H, Bob G, thanks for the good times we shared….. Seems like yesterday. CTD ………….

Bob was a light in a dark world. Truly a smile and a friend even though he himself would be going through tough times. He was the most selfless person I knew. I looked at him like an older brother and admired how he could love others like he could and how he could keep a cool head even in times when most would not. I cannot believe you are gone. If I would have known when I talked to you Wednesday that it would have been the last time I would have held you on the phone forever bro. I love you man. And you will forever be missed. Paddle out my friend. You are at peace now. Spend some time with your mother because I know you missed her.

Bob and I went to high school together, and have remained close through the years. He was such a stand up guy, who loved with all of his heart. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest In Paradise my Brother. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
