Charles Richard Sanderson, 92, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017, in Wilmington, NC.

He was born August 28, 1925 in Loris, SC the youngest of seven children of Julius and Mabel (Schwartz) Sanderson.

Charles grew up on his family farm in South Carolina. He served as an aircraft repairman in the Navy in World War II. Following the war, Charles attended refrigeration school and worked in the gas and refrigeration services industry. He went on to run his own business, Sanderson Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning, for many years. He later became a commercial fisherman as captain of his boat, Little Sandy. Charles was a humble and happy man and had many passions throughout his life such as hunting, gardening, and cooking seafood. For 54 years he was married to Lunette Sanderson who preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters Susan Sanderson (Paul Johnston) and Betsy Sanderson of Kamuela, HI, Polly Sanderson of Wilmington, NC, and Renee D’Agaro (Alessandro) of Northbrook, IL and his beloved grandchildren Emily, Sydney, McCrae, Cameron, Mateo, Amelia, Massimo and Gabriella. Charles formed many lasting friendships, and family and friends will remember his loyalty and generosity.
