Charlotte “Ann” MARTIN, 75, longtime resident of Carolina Beach, NC passed away on June 4, 2013, with her loving family and friends by her side. She was born to the late Andrew Clyde and Mary Solomon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; Vito Martin, her brothers: Claude, John, Bobby, David, and Sonny Solomon; sisters: Margie Cole, Helen Andrews, and Louise Woody.

Ann and Vito owned and operated Vito’s Carolina Beach Marina where they touched many lives. She retired after many years at Island Tackle and Hardware where she was best known as the “friendly hardware lady”. Ann was an active member of Seaside Chapel, American Legion Post 129, and Got-Em-On Live Bait Club. She was her happiest while spending time with family and friends, relaxing on the North End, and enjoying beach music. Ann had so much compassion for her life at Carolina Beach and often referred to herself as “a lucky old lady”. She was full of life and left an impression on all those who crossed her path.

Surviving are her two daughters, Tammy Martin Gainey and husband Randy, Tina Martin Montgomery and husband Robert, her four grandchildren, Lindsey, Brent, Morgan, and Cory whom to them she was “Nonni”, her sisters Janie S. Jones of Roxboro, and Evelyn S. Cole of Essex, MD.

Ann loved traveling and made many memories with her longtime friends Bobby and Maxine Nivens. She touched many lives with her words of wisdom and has more friends that one can count. The family would like to thank everyone for the visits, phone calls, cards, and all of the prayers and laughs along the way. A special thank you goes out to friend and caregiver, Kathy Klinedinst.

The family will have visitation at Seaside Chapel, 100 S. 8th St. in Carolina Beach, on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00am with a memorial service immediately following at 12:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 and Seaside Chapel, 100 S. 8th Street, Carolina Beach, NC 28428.

Tammy and Tina, I was sitting here at work thinking of Ann, I came across this poem.It reminded me of her. Oh,the deep, deep love of Jesus, Vast unmeasured, boundless free; Rolling as a mighty ocean In it's fullness over me. Underneath me,all around me, Is the current of Thy love; Leading onward, leading homeward, To my gloriour rest above. -Samuel T.Francis

Tammy, Tina and family: Sometime there are just no words . . . . Thinking of you with sympathy and the hope that time will bring comfort to your heart. Because of a prior commitment I will not be able to attend Ann's service. Please know that you will be in my heart and prayers on that day.
