Walter Charles Huse 80, of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at his home with his wife Nini at his side.

Chunky Huse was born in Shepperton, England at the beginning of World War Two. By the age of 17 he had a successful rock band called The Missing Links and had started on his family of five with his first wife Queenie. He had also started what became a legendary career in the film industry, following in his father’s footsteps. Over time he created Grip House in the UK and when he became a citizen of the US he created Gypsy Grips. Along the way he helped create and develop film equipment that is still used.

He is survived by his widow Cornelia (Nini) Rogan, Edith (Queenie)Huse, his second wife Gay Huse and all of his children. Derek Huse, Lindsey Huse, Kevin Huse, Malcolm Huse and Zinnia Holmes.
Malcolm and Kevin have followed in Chunky’s footsteps in his beloved film industry. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

There is also another huge worldwide family of friends and coworkers who survive him and his appreciation of the hard, useful, artful work that he loved so very much. We mourn him deeply. He is irreplaceable. He is incredibly loved.

Chunky requested that he be cremated, and the cremation took place at 10:20 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation.

When you say the name "Chunky" in Wilmington, you are immediately recognized as a friend to all. He was beyond unique and naturally befriended everyone he spoke with. He was infectious in his laughter, his hard work, and his appreciation of you. Like everyone who met him, I quickly came to love this man for he was a man for all ages. The hole he leaves us will heal, but man-o-man is it a huge hole! Prayers to his large family, which includes pretty much everyone. But most of all, his lovely wife, NiNi, whom enhanced his life. The world is less good today...we love and miss you, Chunky! May you find peace and comfort, and if it's not too much to ask, can you offer your services to The Big Guy and redirect some lighting down here? It's damn hot....

    Marilou Vetter says:
Chunky was one in a million, one of a kind...a bright light on any film set, with the best "stories" of his long career. I loved visiting with him and Nini on my rare trips to Wilmington since I left, hanging out with the dogs, great conversations, in their beautiful home and haven near the water. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will sorely be missed by all.
