HCA Claude Marvin Allison, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday evening December 4th 2023 at Liberty Commons. Claude was born August 02, 1930, oldest   son   of Robert “Bob” Wesley Allison and   Josephine   Malinda  Reagan   Allison   in   the   Qualla   community   of    Jackson   County, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two younger brothers: James “Jimmie” Robert and Raymond Lester Allison.

Claude leaves behind his loving wife and traveling partner of 71 years, Clara Jean, and his sister, Bobbie Sue, of Honea Path, S.C.  Also surviving are daughter, Sharon Beth McIntosh, and husband, Jim, and son, Roger Warren Allison of Greenville, SC; grandchildren Robert Wesley McIntosh and wife, Emily; and Eric James McIntosh, and wife Mary Elizabeth; great grandchildren William Ezra McIntosh (7), Wesley James McIntosh (4), and Benjamin Wade McIntosh (1).

Claude met his high school sweetheart, Clara Jean Jones, at Sylva Central High School in Sylva, NC. Four years later, they were married in 1952. Then Claude was drafted by the US Air Force & deployed to South Korea.

After 3 years in the US Air Force running a MASH unit and receiving a Meritorious commendation medal, Claude was employed by a 300-bed hospital in Springfield, Ohio while simultaneously earning a double major in Business Administration and Accounting from Whittenberg University. Upon graduation, Claude was employed as Asst. Administrator of Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA – a Columbia Hospital. Two years later, he was employed as the youngest hospital Administrator in Virginia at Marshall Lodge Memorial and Guggenheimer Hospitals. With this experience, he and Jean founded “Healthtrend Consultants, Inc.”  in Roanoke, VA, and ran for 15 years while members of Grandin Court Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement in 1995, Claude worked for 10 years as Operations Manager for Delaney Radiologists in Wilmington.

Lifetime accolades he was most proud of were: “Volunteer of the Year” for the American Cancer Society serving as Chairman for two years; A lifetime fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE); American Red Cross 20 Gallon Donor of rare O-neg blood; Member and Sunday School Director for 25 years and Chairman of Buildings & Grounds Committee at Winter Park Baptist Church.

The Funeral Service by Wilmington Funeral & Creation will be at Winter Park Baptist Church Monday Dec 11th 2023. Visitation will begin at 1pm followed by the service at 2PM and burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
