Clee Merritt, 62 of Wilmington died Monday March 23, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Clee was born March 3, 1947 in Red Springs, NC, the son of the late Wilbur Ray Merritt, Sr. of Wilmington.
He retired in 1998 from Sara Lee Mills in Sanford, NC. Clee enjoyed following politics and loved watching sports.
He was preceded in death by his sister Annie Bailey of Wilmington. Surviving are his mother Lucille Merritt of Burgaw, sister Gail Merritt of San Francisco, Ca, brothers Marshall Merritt of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Wilbur Merritt of Red Springs, NC, Roy Merritt of Wilmington, James Merritt of Burgaw and Steve Merritt of Leland. Numerous nieces and nephews and two step grandchildren James Hannel (Buddy) and Jeremy Hannel.
Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service where the family will see friends after the service.
