Constance ( Connie ) Greathouse, 73, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on May 14, 2018.
Born January 20, 1945 in Saco, Maine, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Doris Knox Ellingwood Lawton.
She is survived by her sister, Janice Marryat ; niece, Kathy Marryat ; nephew and niece ( in-law ) , David and Nancy Marryat ; great-nephew, David Marryat ; great-niece, Stephanie Marryat : step-daughter. Bobbie Ball ; step-grandson, Bradley Ball ; and great-grand grandaughter, Anaya Ball.
Connie loved to travel. She lived in Japan and in Taiwan, and had a love of Asian culture. Connie loved to help others and showed this in her career as a teacher who was beloved by her students, many of whom stayed in touch with her through the years.
Connie had a large community of friends whom she loved and who loved her dearly. She thought of them as family, and gave and received support in both good times and bad. While she will be deeply missed, she has left behind a legacy of love and friendship, as well as wonderful memories.
Connie loved her friends and neighbors, as well as shopping, great purses, shoes, lobster, the women’s movement, the beach, and filled her home with everything blue and white. She enjoyed great food and wine and the conversation and laughter that goes with having a meal together.
Connie was an active member of the Assistance League of Women ( ALW ), Scene III, and the Red Hats Society. She donated to local charities and was very generous with anyone who needed help.
A celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, July 10 between 2:00-5:00 at the Cypress Island Club House, at 9316 Line Drive, Wilmington, NC 28412.
