Constance J. Lancaster

Constance Jarvis Lancaster (Connie) passed away after a sudden infectious illness on May 17th, 2018 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George W. Lancaster and their children Joan (Kookie), Bill (Scott), Libby (Kenny) and Micki (Ryan), her 6 grandchildren Michael (Brooke), Brian, Matthew, Brandon, Kendall and Zack, and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother’s children Chuck and Richie Jarvis. She was preceded in death by her parents C.J. and Gertrude Jarvis and her brother Charles Jarvis.

Connie was born in Lexington, NC August 5th, 1942 and moved to Wilmington in 1960. She has been a member of Winter Park Baptist Church for over 50 years and was actively involved in many ministries. She and Sally MacCallum were the first two women deacons ordained by Winter Park Baptist Church and they led a Bible study at University Place Senior Living for over 20 years. She served as the Sunday School director at Winter Park for over 15 years, a Stephen Minister, on the wedding committee and sang in the choir just to name a few. Connie was a spiritual beacon, gave wise counsel, and was an example for many young women including her daughters.

She was involved in many community organizations as a member and leader including Bible Study Fellowship, Christian Women’s Club, Junior Sorosis, and the Girl Scouts of America. She loved home decorating and gardening and was a member of the Cape Fear Garden Club.

Many people referred to Connie as “Ms. Connie” because she was such an elegant southern lady, classy dresser and gracious hostess.

The family will receive guests on Sunday May 20th, 2018 at Winter Park Baptist Church in the sanctuary at 2:00 PM with the service of celebration at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the columbarium fund at Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403.

    Al and Brenda Sholar says:
There is not enough space to share 46+ years of friendship with this dear woman. Al and I are saddened her physical presence is no longer with us. We are joyful to know we will be with her again in our heavenly home. May the memories of the wonderful life she created for her George, children and grandchildren be a solace in your grief.
