Cora Elizabeth “Shug” Croom age 94 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013.

Born in Duplin County to the late John Fredrick Rouse and Eva Belle Waters. She was widow of the late Oscar Lenaire Croom.

She retired from Belk’s Department Store and was a member of Winter Park Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, Tony Croom and wife Brenda of Wilmington; grandchildren, Tony Croom Jr. and Zackery Sullivan & wife Lauren; great-grandchild, Lily Sullivan.

Graveside services will be 11 AM Monday at Wilmington National Cemetery with Rev Mark Teachey officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday 2:30-4PM at Winter Park Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehab Center 121 Racine Dr. Wilmington, NC 28403 or to Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Avenue Wilmington, NC 28403.

    Tony I had the great privilege and honor of knowing your mother. I loved visiting her and seeing those beautiful blue eyes that were always brighten by a visit. She was the sweetest, most gentle soul I know. I will be ever grateful for knowing her and her love for the Lord. She wore it well. Now, she is at rest and her journey is complete. She's one of those beautiful angels that God sent us for awhile and now He has her back. May the Lord be with you during this time of grief and give you the peace that surpasses all understanding.
